We spend a good chunk of our day in the workplace, so if we lack correct posture, pain and discomfort will eventually settle in. If you suffer from stress in your back, shoulders, or neck from extended time at your job, we’re here to help.

At Arora Family Chiropractic, we believe in treating your body as a whole by tapping into its natural ability to heal itself through physiotherapy, manual therapy, and chiropractic adjustments. Our gentle and personalized care is headed by our experienced chiropractors, Dr. Puneet Arora and Dr. Michael Holder. Through their holistic treatments, they get to the root of the problem so you can get back to working stress-free.

About Workplace Ergonomics

Workplace ergonomics is the scientific study of people and how they are affected by their work environment. The CDC states that poor workplace ergonomics are a direct cause of musculoskeletal disorders. Whether you're hunched over a computer for most of the day or carrying heavy trays back and forth throughout your shift, maintaining healthy practices will keep the pain of poor posture at bay.

Tips to Help You Feel Your Best at Work

The key to avoiding pain from poor posture is to maintain optimal spinal alignment. You can do so by incorporating the following methods into your daily routine:

  • Practice good posture, always: Regardless of whether you’re sitting or standing, keeping your back straight, shoulders rolled back, and neck high is the first step in healthy ergonomics.
  • Switch up your positioning: Your body will naturally experience strain if it’s stuck in one position for too long, so make it a habit to take frequent sitting and standing breaks as needed.
  • Lift boxes with strength from your knees: Attempting to lift heavy items with your back is tempting, but won’t end well.
  • Invest in a good chair: Sometimes, you can only do so much on your own. Having a quality chair that supports you will be worth the investment in the long run.
  • Keep your computer at eye level: Doing so will keep your back and neck in line. It's also helpful if your keyboard and mouse allow your wrists to remain straight.
